Assignment

Just wondering if anyone out there know if this week's assignment is plant pathology or physiology?
Some of my bulbs are just beginning to pop through the tundra. Anyone have outdoor flowers yet? Sigh... Soon the snow will be gone. At least I've heard it's so.
Does anyone have any Hellebores? I've never seen the actual plants and was wondering how they perform and how big they grow in our area. Do they take time to become established before blooming?
There is a way to do team postings on Blogger; would any of you be interested? This way you could post your own questions instead of only responding to mine. You would have to join Blogger but it is free. I will check the procedure and let you know. If any of you are experienced with blogging help me out here, okay?

Online classmate

Welcome to Cara, our online classmate!
It would be nice if some of you would introduce yourselves and your interests as we did in class.
I'm Susan and I have garden envy for all of our classmates with - would you believe it -acreage! My lot is 55 x 180 and the garden patch must only be a third of that, what with house, garage, driveway and veggie garden. I suppose that counts as garden but that's the hubbie's not mine; I just pick 'em...
Cara, what is your garden passion or madness, as the case may be?

Gardening with houseplant scale

Here's the info on that:
  • plants outside last summer
  • sprayed w/Safer soap upon bringing them in
  • forgot 'em except watering thru holidays
  • Jan. comes and EEK - scales!
  • Hudson said at interview to spray again w/Safer
  • been spraying weekly since
  • leaf-drop stopped after 2nd spraying
  • still spraying and hoping
  • one 4 ft. Ficus and one 6 ft. Schefflera
  • next year I will use Di Syston as recommended by lecturer Jackie
  • let you know how they turn out

Trumbull County Gardener's Blogsite is here!

This blog site is created for the 2007 Trumbull County, Ohio Master Gardeners.

Some ways we can use this site:
  • discuss classes more extensively
  • pick up missed class info
  • get to know each other better
  • discuss upcoming projects
  • discuss our own gardening trials and tribulations
  • discuss future projects
  • tell about our own gardens
  • post pictures of our gardens
  • any and all gardening related stuff

I hope to add links soon and a couple of pictures. I'm new to this blog stuff too, so we can learn together, in a new way, how to dispense info...that is what we are supposed to do as Master Gardeners, right?

So, have fun and add whatever you wish that is related to gardening. We can discuss it in class too.
